Note that photos for our 2021 tournaments can be found on this page: 2021 Photos Past Presidents Cup Matches - Winners Bickerstaff Cup - Redding Connecticut Won the Tri-State Matches, Finished Second in the Eaton Cup. Christine Gagner (MA) won the 2-day stroke play Endicott Cup in a playoff over Mercedese Large (Wampanoag CC). Match Results Presidents Cup September 30 at Tumble Brook Congratulations to Joyce Curran and Jennifer Curran, winners of this year's Presidents Cup tournament. Medallion Tournament September 22 at Hartford The 2021 winners of the Medallion Tournament are Mim Schreck and Karen Kiely, representing Oronoque. Summer Special August 26 at Patterson Two Best Balls of Four August 9 at Wethersfield We enjoyed good temps and dry weather! Many thanks to Julie Wheatley, the Club Reb, and her crew at Wethersfield CC, who provided a terrific venue and delicious meal! Congratulations to our winners of the 2 Best Balls of 4. It was a very competitive field with multiple players scoring in the 70s! CWGA Seniors, Legends and Juniors July 29-30 at Ellington Ridge The Seniors and Juniors competed over two days while the Legends played one round on the second day of these championships. Myra Macmillan (Great River GC) won the Seniors Championship, Donna Harris (Farmington Woods) is the Legends Champion (besting Marge Funk of Yale in a one-hole playoff), and CC Kaplan is the 2021 Juniors Champion. Click here for full results. CWGA vs SNEWGA Team Matches July 18 at The Farms (We Won!) The 20 team members from CWGA edged SNEWGA 91 to 89 on a rainy afternoon (what a surprise it rained!) at The Farms, which was in great shape for our competition. You can see full results here, and photos if you click on this link. 2-Ball Scramble July 12 at Great River From Michelle Murphy: Yesterday (Monday, July 12th) we escaped the weather to enjoy a GREAT day at Great River. The format was a two-person scramble, which served us well on a 5,500 yard, challenging and beautiful course. Many thanks to Darlene Tranquilli and her team who put on a tee-rrific CWGA One-day Tournament. Below is a list of the winners: Click here for full results. And here for pictures. 102nd CWGA Championship June 29 - July 2 at Shuttle Meadow CC 33 players entered the Championship with the qualifying round held on a very hot and humid Tuesday June 29th. Mim Schreck took medalist honors with a 78 that included a hole in one on the 13th hole. Gia Watkins, Mercedese Large, and Jean Sennett were close behind with 79s. Match play began on Wednesday with the low 16 qualifiers in the Championship flight and the remaining qualifiers in the Founders Cup. Advancing to the semi-finals on Thursday afternoon were Jean Sennett, Donna Harris, Myra Macmillan, and Leslie Li in the Championship Flight, and Nicole Elliot, Pam Burt, Cheryl Ziebka, and Priscilla Wargo in the Founders Cup. 18-hole final matches took place on Friday with Jean Sennett (Wampanoag CC) edging Leslie Li (Tumble Brook CC) in a close and exciting Championship match. Neither player was ever more than 1 hole up and Sennett made a birdie on 18 for the 1-up victory. In the Founders Cup Cheryl Ziebka was a 3&2 victor over Pam Burt, both members of CC of Farmington. Solheim Cup June 21 at Highfield GC The Red team edged the Blue team by just 1 point, 122-121. Sixteen players on each team (assigned by the tournament committee) competed in three different formats -- better-ball, scramble, and alternate shot -- over 27 holes. Special thanks to Mel Larkins and her crew for hosting this special event. Check out Mel's table decorations in the event photos. Stableford June 15 at Pine Orchard A full field of 36 players competed in the Stableford tournament. Below are the winners in each flight. Congratulations to Marge Funk who had an eagle 3 on the 3rd hole, a 469 yard par 5. Click here for full results. CT vs RI June 3 at Alpine CC (Cranston, RI) The team of CWGA competed hard and stayed mostly dry as we resumed our annual competition vs. RI after a one-year break. The home team, led by Alpine's own Alexis Florio with a 71 on her own ball, bested the CT team 226 to 206. Thanks to the CT and RI players for making this once again a great competition and opportunity to reacquaint with and meet new friends. Full results here. View Photos from the CT-RI matches. Better Ball of Two May 25 at New Haven CC We had a full field of 72 players on a cool, windy but sunny day - a theme for our May tournaments! Congratulations to the winners. A Flight B Flight C Flight Virtual Tournament May 21 or 22 at Your Course The Virtual PME Scholarship Fundraiser was a successful event with the support of 98 players and the many donations contributed by you, the CWGA members! We raised over $4,800 for the PME Scholarship Fund. A shout out to Wampanoag Country Club members, who responded to a local matching funds challenge and raised $990! Opening Mixer May 11 at GC of Avon We opened our CWGA season with a 60-player mixer at the Golf Club of Avon on May 11th. The winners prevailed over cool and windy conditions on a beautiful course with fast greens! Congratulation to:
